Idea 14: Mathematical Proof of Intent (Formal Verification of Semantics)
The Concept
Current formal verification proves that code matches spec.
Proof of Intent proves that spec matches user desire.
The Challenge
"I wanted a secure login system" -> Spec: "Allow access if password hash matches."
Bug: Spec doesn't mention rate limiting. Code matches spec, but system is insecure.
Formal verification passes. User intent fails.
The Solution: Semantic Manifolds
1. Intent Space: Map natural language intent into a high-dimensional vector space (Semantic Manifold).
2. Behavior Space: Map the runtime behavior of the generated system into the same space.
3. Topological Alignment: Mathematically prove that the "shape" of the behavior covers the "shape" of the intent without "leaking" into undesirable regions (security holes).
12-Week Execution Plan
- Week 1-4: Define the "Intent Manifold" using large-scale embedding models (e.g., OpenAI text-embedding-3-large) + logical constraints (Z3).
- Week 5-8: Build a "Behavioral Tracer" that maps execution traces to this manifold.
- Week 9-12: Develop a "Distance Metric" that quantifies the divergence between Intent and Behavior, acting as a continuous "Correctness Score" rather than a binary pass/fail.
Mathematical Foundation
- Category Theory: Mapping between the category of "Intent" and "Implementation".
- Topology: Analyzing the connectivity and boundaries of the solution space.
Impact
- Eliminates "Technically correct but useless" software.
- Automated security auditing based on meaning, not just syntax.
